این نوشتار از طرفی به معرفی مهمترین روشهای رویکرد نقد اسطورهای میپردازد و در هر فصل یکی از این روشها را تبیین میکند و از طرف دیگر یک اثر معماری و یک اثر شهرسازی را از طریق آن روش نقد و تحلیل کرده و از این راه با نگاهی نو آثار معماری و شهرسازی ایران را مورد توجه قرار میدهد. در رویکرد نقد اسطورهای، از رویکردهای اصلی نقد ادبی و هنری در دوران معاصر، از سویی مطالعات تاریخ تمدن و فرهنگ، و از سوی دیگر مبانی روانشناسی بویژه روانشناسی جمعی، در خدمت تحلیل آثار ادبی و هنری قرار میگیرند. به بیانی دیگر، نقد اسطورهای در عین جهانشمولی، امری درون فرهنگی نیز محسوب میشود و با تاریخ و فرهنگ هر جمع و جامعهای ارتباطی تنگاتنگ برقرار میکند. شایان توجه است که به رغم تفاوت آثار حوزهی معماری- شهرسازی از آثار دیگر حوزههای هنر و ادبیات، میتوان با نگاهی نو، با یک بنای معماری یا یک اثر شهری نیز به مثابهی یک متن برخورد کرد چرا که این آثار همانند آثار ادبی و هنری نظامی از ساختها هستند که این ساختها در آن نظام در سطوح متفاوت به نحوی به هم پیوستهاند که هر عنصر در ارتباط با سایر عناصر ارزشی خاص پیدا میکند و در نهایت کلیت اثر را شکل میدهد. بدین ترتیب در این نوشتار تلاش شده است با آثار معماری- شهرسازی همانند یک متن برخورد شود، با این توضیح که در جهت درک معنای نهفته در لابهلای سطور این متن از روشهای یاده شده در رویکرد نقد اسطورهای استفاده شده است.
